The sculpture is made of bronze...
Yash Chopra, one of the most legendary filmmakers of all time, has achieved a HUGE feat today. The Yash Raj Films founder has been honoured by the Swiss government today as they inaugurated a statue in memory of him. Yash Chopra had extensively shot his films in Switzerland since the early 90s. The breath taking beauty of Switzerland appealed to him and you could see these amazing locales in most of his films. This had actually influenced many people to visit the Swiss Alps and the government has noticed this!
So, today the Swiss government inaugurated Yash Chopra's sculpture made of pure bronze in an iconic pose of him directing a film. The statue will be installed at the heart of Interlaken, inside the KURSAAL area, near the Congress Centre. This is a prime spot which is visited by lots of tourists and will remind everyone visiting the country of Yashji's cinematic expertise.
Yash Chopra's wife Pamela Chopra and daughter-in-law Rani Mukerji along with a few ministers of the Swiss government attended this inauguration event.
However, this is not the first time the filmmaker has been honoured in this way by Switzerland. The government of Interlaken had earlier awarded him the honorary title of Ambassador of Interlaken in 2011. The Jungfrau Railways also named a train after him. In addition, the five-star Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa in Interlaken has also named a suite after Yash Chopra.
