Talvar, which is based on the Aarushi murder case, does well due to strong word of mouth
Irrfan Khan - Konkona Sen Sharma starrer Talvar which opened to a slow start on its initial days has done well. The film was lauded by critics and slowly appreciated by people, over the week.
Trade figures also state the same. After one week of its release, the movie has collected about Rs 15 crore. The first day collections of the film was about Rs 2.5 crore on the first day of its release and the trade did not pick up for the film on the first two days. But, it has slowly and steadily come a long way since then. Analysts claim that the film has entered its second week with a decent number of shows and this week looks good for the film. The film saw good escalation over the weekend (Rs 9.25 crore) and was quite stable right through the weekdays with hardly any fall in collections. With fair numbers (in upwards of 1.5 crore) on every passing day, the film’s first week collections stand at Rs 15.55 crore.
The reason why Talvar, despite being engaging and great on content, opened to a slow weekend would be popularity of Singh Is Bliing, which was a characteristic big-budgeted film. Though Singh Is Bliing has already entered Rs 100 crore, it's collections dropped after the weekend.
After Talvar, its proved once more that films with great performances and content will do well at box-office despite having no big stars or budget. Here's what Taran Adarsh tweeted.
