In the wake of #MeToo movement, here is another story that is going to shock you to the core. Indian audience loved Brendan Fraser. The audience went gaga over him when The Mummy and subsequently its sequel released in the country. Your heart will ache when you will learn that our favourite hero has suffered sexual harassment in Hollywood. The actor has come out as a victim of sexual misconduct, in his interview with GQ.
Brendan has alleged that former Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) president Philip Berk had touched him inappropriately at a 2003 luncheon thrown by the Golden Globe organisers. "His left-hand reaches around, grabs my ass cheek, and one of his fingers touches me in the taint," the actor revealed. "And he starts moving it around… I felt ill. I felt like a little kid. I felt like there was a ball in my throat. I thought I was going to cry," he said. He also alleges that he doesn't know if the incident was the reason, but he was never invited to another Golden Globes event ever again.
Philip has said that the touch was a joke and called Brendan's narrative a fabrication. "My apology admitted no wrongdoing, the usual 'If I've done anything that upset Mr. Fraser, it was not intended and I apologise'," the former HFPA head said.
Brendan says that #MeToo and #TimesUp movement has given him the courage to come out now and speak about his experience. Though he admits that he is still frightened. He added in his interview, "May be I am over-reacting in terms of what the instance was. I just know what my truth is. And it’s what I just spoke to you.”
