Girls, get some #FashionGoals to rock it like the birthday gal, Ms Padukone
Deepika Padukone is everything that you will ever want to be. She is gorgeous, but not in the typical in-your-face way. She is guarded, yet makes no bones to express her innermost feelings and insecurities. She is damn successful but never haughty. A former Kingfisher model, she was rubbished by her critics as another bimbo when she debuted into the glam world in the most clichéd way possible: with Shah Rukh's Om Shanti Om in 2007. We have seen her grow from strength to strength in last eight years. And boy, we are surprised.
There is no shying away from the fact that the year 2015 belongs to Ms Padukone. So, the time has come for Deepika to shed her oh-so-modest ways and finally take a bow. Other than making right decisions professionally, there is one thing which is consistent about her. Her ever so fabulous style sense and the way it has evolved - from blindly following fashion trends, to actually coming out on her own and exploring a whole new dimension about her own personality. Her fashion has got to do a lot with her self confidence and assurance. It also comes with accepting, and finally loving her self with coming out in open about her dark mental phase, to starring in that inspiring My Choice video. Dippy just proves that fashion, is just who you are, deep down.
Dippy has been blessed with a willowy figure and that amazing height which every girl would die to have. Being an athlete, she always had an advantage of having a lithe, lissom figure which is why she was spotted to be a supermodel so early on in her life. Though she had a basic understanding of style and cuts, one can't help but notice how she has developed this along the last eight years of professional life. Even her styling and make up has changed big time. Her initial pics highlight her prominent neckbones, eyes and legs - which still continue to be her best features. But now, you see Dippy experimenting more with her hair. Her wardrobe too has an envious mix of Indian, Indo Western and Westernwear. She is one of the few actresses who can flaunt heavy Anarkalis, snazzy short skirts, capes and fitted trousers, embellished sarees or even a pair of distressed jeans and a ganji all with an equal ease and panache.
Dippy's on screen style as always been in tandem with her off screen appearances. Personally for me, things changed for Dippy with Homi Adajania's Cocktail. People got up to notice her and that change even showed in her wardrobe. Oh, how we loved her gorgeous highlights adorning her untamed hair, smart tanks and gorgeous palazzos and not to mention those minis in the film! From sporting straight ironed hair and a standard dress, Dippy has come a long way.
In the year 2013, she legitimately slayed us in Ram Leela with her performance, as well as her raw ethnic get up! Last year too belonged to her. She particularly wore soft colours like beige and pastels for her Bajirao Mastani promotional events and went colourful and casually chic for the Tamasha promotions. That really, really worked in her favour. We got to see how amazingly versatile she is with her wardrobe, just like her roles.
Again, we repeat, Deepika really is a style chameleon. For she looks stupendously elegant in smart Ijar pants with kurtas and a cute bindi but she can turn into a ravishing diva as she slips into an embellished LBD! So, if you are a fan of Deepika, take a look at these images that highlight her style through the last eight years that she has been around and you will definitely learn a thing or two from her. Next time you get inspired by Dippy while on one of your shopping excursions, just remember what the lady said in the My Choice video for it rings true even in this context. "Your choices are like your fingerprints, they make you who you are."
Before signing off, we wish Deepika a Happy Birthday and hope that she continues to shine and mesmerise us!
