Quite literally, if we may say so!
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo brought Salman Khan back in the Prem and Rajshri mould, something we grew up adoring. It did male a lot of money for its producers. People loved the amiable and polite Prem along with a naughty version of his in the same. But the way it impacted a 5 year old Cancer survivor is unbelievable. Her mother was so overwhelmed by this that she wrote an open letter to the actor expressing a wish of the kid and also called him a 'positive reinforcement'.
Ryka was diagnosed with blood cancer or Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia when she was on a trip to India in 2013 from Melbourne. Since then she disliked all things Indian because in her head she blamed the country for her condition. But recently, on April 29, she celebrated her first cancer-free birthday and Salman has much to do with that. Her mother writes, "I can't express how relieved and grateful I am to see my child healthy, happy and so full of life. Last two years have been a nightmare for us but the way Ryka lights up when you are on screen, has to be seen to be believed. We were on a trip to India in December 2013 when she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). Her little mind thought that her visit to India had given her the illness. When we finally brought her home, Ryka rejected everything related to India. She did not want to hear Indian music, she disliked talking to phone to people in India, she hated Indian shows on television, did not like us watching Indian movies (till she watched Prem Ratan Dhan Payo)."
Now Ryka has a wish. Her mother continues, "All she wants for her fifth birthday is that you, her hero, Salman Khan wishes her 'Happy Birthday'. You have not only been a positive reinforcement in Ryka's life but also the reason behind Ryka accepting her Indian roots." Although her birthday is done with, she still wishes to meet the man who gave her hope. We hope Salman reads this and meets her!
