Sholay is one film nobody ever forgets. Sholay is more than just a film. It's a habit. Everytime it's on TV, we watch it without fail. People have event bought DVDs of the film to be watched as and when one wants and we are sure that's pretty often. That's because there's charisma in every scene, depth in every dialogue and a solid punch in every stunt. Who doesn't know the one liners by heart? But this legendary film came into being after a lot of cuts and chops and what stood in front us was a portion of a genius film. Say for example this scene where you can see Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra having food at a dhaba. This was kept aside from the final cut.
According to reports, Ramesh Sippy's film was too long and editor Madhav Rao Shinde was given the herculean task to bring order to this spectacular madness called Sholay. He was in a fix as every ounce of this film was a blockbuster. But he had to do his job and this particular scene got the boot. Let us tell you what it was. AB and Dharmendra eat at a dhaba. They litter the place which riles up the owner. That ensues a fight. The scene got deleted to make adjustments to the length of the film.
To make an epic, sacrifice is needed and this scene became one of the many for Sholay.
