R Madhavan and Amit Sadh will take your breath away with their performances in this one. This psychological thriller is something you need to watch before anything else. And not just the acting but what worked best for this show is how well it is written. It will be difficult for you to pick sides in this one. The characters are so imperfect that they fit into the plot perfectly.
The Marvelous Mrs Maisel - Amazon Prime
The Marvelous Mrs Maisel is one of my favourite shows and I would highly recommend this to everyone. Rachel Brosnahan is the main lead and you'll take a liking to her instantly. Since the show is set in the 1950's, get ready to see a lot of fancy overcoats, gloves, corsets that apparently made women look pleasant for their husbands. You'll feel sorry for Miriam Midge Maisel (played by Rachel) but at the same time, you'll be amazed with her stand-up comedian avatar which is poles apart from how she is otherwise. And the show will definitely make you laugh out loud.
Sense 8 - Netflix
Oh where do I even begin about this science-fiction drama! The first two seasons of the show became so popular that fans started calling out the makers for cancelling the third season. As a consolation for fans, makers have promised them a two-hour special episode! Sense 8 is something that you'll not stop thinking about at least till a week after you're done watching it. It shows a different species of homo-sapiens who are mentally and emotionally linked and call themselves, Sensates. But let me warn you, it might take an episode or two for you to understand and comprehend what's happening on the show. The intimate scenes have been shot so tastefully and both seasons end on a cliffhanger. Now you know why fans were upset when the third season got cancelled!
The Test Case - ALT Balaji
The Test Case left the audience wanting for more when they aired the first three episodes of the show starring Nimrat Kaur, Manit Jaura, Akshay Oberoi, Rahul Dev and Atul Kulkarni, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. The subsequent episodes were delayed due to internal issues but they came back this year and how! Every cast member has pushed his/her boundaries to give you goosebumps and trust me, you will get goosebumps. The direction, writing, acting, all of it is brilliant.
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency - Netflix
Dirk Gently is a comic science fiction detective series which will leave you in splits and in awe. Samuel Barnett is the holistic detective with a unique personality. If you liked Sherlock, you will LOVE Dirk Gently and of course, his assistant Todd. The show is unlike any other detective series you have seen before.
Stranger Things - Netflix
Stranger Things is one of the most loved series and one of the most talked about shows on the internet. Honestly, the only reason for me to watch the show was - FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). Thank God, I watched this because it is simply amazing. Though the first season is much better than the second season. If you are into horror or science fiction, you'll surely love watching this show. It's an absolute delight!
Romil & Jugal - ALT Balaji
And for the first time in India, comes a gay love story. That's right! Not only did Ekta shock us by introducing the homosexual love story but she impressed the hell out of us with this one. You should watch this show purely for two things - Ekta Kapoor and a gay love story. In fact, all the passionate kisses and lovey-dovey exchanges between the male leads won't even make you cringe. The makers have also steered clear of all the stereotype around gay men.
Bose: Dead/Alive - ALT Balaji
The highlight of this historical drama is Rajkummar Rao. Of course, the story-telling, acting, direction exceeds expectations but if you haven't seen it yet, we recommend you watch it soon. Rajkummar as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is a gift to the viewers and a great one.
Big Little Lies - Hotstar
Big Little Lies is one show which has big names like Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman as a part of the cast. The story revolves around sexual and domestic abuse. Though you might find the series a little slow, the finale episode is worth all the time you invested in watching this show. You'll be overwhelmed and emotional when you see these women struggling to fight the past abuses and the present ones. In fact, they are also coming up with the second season of the show and got Meryl Streep on board for it.
The People vs OJ Simpson - Hotstar
Now this is a very popular real life legal mess that put the Kardashians in the spotlight. The entire series revolves around the trial and facts are not at all distorted. You'll see David Schwimmer in a rather different avatar and you'll love him. But let me warn you, it will leave you confused and you'll feel like digging into files to find out more about the case. This is one show that will leave you curious even after the season finale.
