Traffic trailer: The late Rajesh Pillai's BEST Malayalam film is now in Hindi....and it looks TERRIFIC!

Manoj Bajpayee, Parambrata Chatterjee, Jimmy Sheirgill, Prosenjit Chatterjee , Sachin Khedekar and Divya Dutta star in the remake of the 2011 Malayalam film!

The film is a remake of one of the biggest game-changers in Malayalam Cinema.

It was 2011. Malayalam Cinema was bombarded with mass flicks, mimicry skits paraded as comedy flicks and various other trashes. Just when you were about to lose all hope for Mollywood, came a film that changed everything for the better, and started a new era for Malayalam films. Traffic was one of the finest Malayalam films to have released this decade, and it paved way for emerging film-makers to experiment with their plots, and also for the distributors to realise that you don't need a superstar like Mammootty or Mohanlal or even a Dileep to make a good film, only good script and nice performers were enough. The film follows the lives of several people not connected to each other - a popular superstar, an emerging reporter and his best friend, a re-instated constable who was suspended for bribery, a doctor who finds out his wife is having an affair...and how one accident connects them, and changes their lives forever. Though on the lines of Amores Perros and Mani Ratnam's Yuva, Traffic is much different from the mentioned films, since it is based on a real life incident that happened in Chennai. Seeing the critical reception, Rajesh Pillai was asked to remake the film in Hindi. It was nearly three ears ago, and that was the time I had met the man, when he was busy in the post-production of the film. He made us see the rushes, and he looked very happy with his actors and the way the film has been shot (except for one...whom I won't mention here!). Now that the trailer is out and though it took more than 2 years for the makers to do so, the film still looks terrific, the casting is so apt...Manoj Bajpayee, Parambrata Chatterjee, Jimmy Sheirgill, Prosenjit Chatterjee , Sachin Khedekar and Divya Dutta, and it looks very close to the original. Though I feel really bad that the director is not here to see his pet project finally seeing the light of the day, I am glad that it happened!
