Trisha and Jayam Ravi are working together for the third time.
This Tamil actor is back in business as they say after an unfortunate lull in his career. His last release Romeo Juliet was a hit and now he’s looking forward to Sakalakala Vallavan Appatakkar’s release on July 31. Jayam Ravi is calm and confident as he talks to Bollywoodlife about the director Suraaj film.
“This is the first time I have done a full-fledged comedy,” explains Jayam Ravi. “My friends have always told me that no one knows the comical and humourous side of me and now the audience will get to see me in this avatar. Director Suraaj is good at the comedy genre; I think this is his forte.”
Why did they change the name of the film from Appatakkar? “We were told it’s not a Tamil film title so we decided to change it,” says Jayam Ravi. Though he says he can’t reveal much about the film, he says, “Sakalakala Vallavan Appatakkar takes a look at a married life and the relationship between a couple. Today, a joint family means uncles, aunts, cousins and all living under one roof. A few years down the line, a joint family will mean a husband and wife living together! We have tried to show some of these changing aspects of married life in a completely comical way.”
Trisha and Jayam Ravi are working together for the third time. “Trisha and I are friends and we have a very comfortable relationship. We started our career at around the same time and I worked with her again after about eight years after Something Something. She’s very talented and has grown more beautiful with time!” praises the actor. Jayam Ravi recommended Anjali for a role in the film. Ask Jayam Ravi if he romances both Trisha and Anjali in the film and he laughs and says, “Yes! But don’t ask me anything more!”
Comedian Soori, who is doing his third film with Jayam Ravi, plays a big role in this film. “I can say that 50% of Sakalakala Vallavan Appatakkar is Soori,” smiles Jayam Ravi, “He has played a big part in the film and how it’s turned out.” Comedian Vivek is also part of the film.
Sakalakala Vallavan Appatakkar is a family entertainer and Jayam Ravi urges people to watch it as a family. Meanwhile, he is also excited about his brother Jayam Raja’s Thani Oruvan that is set to release in August. But that’s for another interview in August!
