Salman Khan's Tubelight was supposed to take the box office by a storm upon its release on June 23. Trade was hopeful that it will make Rs 80-85 crore in the first three days while Eid on Monday will add more bounty to the film, to take the four-day extended weekend total to more than Rs 100 crore. But the film has under-performed and taken everyone by a surprise. In the last three days, the film has earned Rs 64.77 crore, which is the lowest opening weekend count for a Salman Khan movie in recent years.

Taran Adarsh revealed the figures of the film saying, "#TubelightFri 21.15 cr, Sat 21.17 cr, Sun 22.45 cr. Total: ₹ 64.77 cr. India biz... Eid festivities should boost biz today + tomorrow." He definitely sounds hopeful for today as it is Eid. In fact, that's the only way the film can salvage its run at the box office. It has to be around Rs 25-30 crore for the film to post a good overhaul at the box office. He also mentioned how it has the lowest numbers for his films in recent times. Check out the figures right here...

So what went wrong with this film? Well, the fact that Tubelight was devoid of every Salman Khan bonanza could be one of the reason. There was no romance to talk about which people love to see. Plus action took a complete backseat here because the actor plays a man who is a slow learner and is not swift with his moves. Everything that his fans would love to see him do is missing from the film. The fact that Kabir Khan is hungover Bajrangi Bhaijaan is clearly visible here.
