The tragic demise of Sushant Singh Rajput has sent shockwaves across the country. In his small but illustrious career, SSR portrayed quite a few memorable characters, which will always remain in our hearts and minds. And among them is his lovable character of Raghu in Shuddh Desi Romance. Talking about the Maneesh Sharma directorial, the rom-com, which showcased the views of the youth on arranged-marriages, live-in relationships and commitment issues, had received immense praises from cine-goers for its direction, plot and the performances of Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra and Vaani Kapoor (who also received the Filmfare Best Debut award).
But did you have any idea that SSR was not the first choice for the film? Director Maneesh had taken another chocolate boy, Shahid Kapoor, to portray the character of Raghu Ram in the YRF venture. But the film took too long to go on floors and Shasha had other commitments. So, unfortunately, he had to turn down the offer. Shuddh Desi Romance turned out to be a box office success but honestly, watching this film now will not have bittersweet feelings among movie-buffs.
The last film of the late actor, Dil Bechara, is expected to release post lockdown. The film, which is the Bollywood adaptation of The Fault In Our Stars, was earlier titled Kizie Aur Manny. While the title was earlier eponymously based on the names of the lead characters, the makers changed it to Dil Bechara later on. Talking about the sudden title change, Rucha Pathak, Chief Creative Officer of Fox Star Studios told Mumbai Mirror, "AR Rahman, who is composing the music, shared a vibrant and fun number, with lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. When we heard the song, we found our title in it. It perfectly embodies the theme of our film."
Dil Bechara marks the directorial debut of Mukesh Chhabra and also stars Sanjana Sanghi and Saif Ali Khan in key roles.
