Everyone was bowled over by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's charismatic and elegant look in JP Dutta's 2006 release Umrao Jaan, which was the remake of Rekha's 1981 film of the same name. While the character of Umrao Jaan needed all the beauty and grace, Aishwarya was apt for it. Bu she was not the original choice for the film. Yes, you read it right! Aishwarya bagged this role only after another Miss World left it. Can you guess the name yet?
It's out desi girl Priyanka Chopra! Filmmaker JP Dutta approached PeeCee for the titular character, but the actress couldn't do this project as it required 90 consecutive dates, and Priyanka had jam-packed schedule with her work commitments. Apparently, Arshad Warsi too was replaced by Suniel Shetty in the film, and so was choreographer Saroj Khan by Vaibhavi Merchant.
