You can’t call your wife a 'b***h' even if she cheats on you. Specially not if you are Akshay Kumar. This is the loud and clear message that was conveyed to the makers of Rustom when they approached the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC). Though the film has been passed with a 'UA' certificate the CBFC has asked for two verbal cuts, namely 'b***h' and 'b*****d' both mild English-language expletives, heard repeatedly in Hindi films.
As a source reveals to us, "Rustom has been cleared with no visual cuts only name-calling expletives. Because the film stars Akshay Kumar the cuss words have been ordered out. He has the image of a clean decent man who respects all human beings, male or female. Unke mooh se gaali achcha nahin lagta (abuses don’t sound nice from him)."
While these cuts might not have any effect on the film, there have been cases in the past when the CBFC has ordered some cuts irrational edits which do affect the film. Hopefully censorship will end soon and we will have film certification only!
In the meantime, Akshay Kumar and the team of Rustom are gearing up for their big box office battle with Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde's period drama - Mohenjo Daro. Though both the films are huge, the former has an upper hand in terms of the buzz around the film. In fact, many actors including Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Salman Khan, Tiger Shroff and even Hrithik himself promoted Rustom through social media quite recently. This hasn't been the case for Hrithik's film.
But with a long weekend this week (Independence Day holiday on Monday - August 15), both the film will do well at the box office. Let's see which film comes out on the top. In meanwhile tell us about your thoughts on the cuts ordered for Rustom in the comments section below!
