Bollywood actors Shreyas Talpade and Alok Nath have been charged with fraud and breach of trust. The case was filed at the Murthal police station in Haryana's Sonipat district. A total of 22 other individuals have also been named in the complaint. They are alleged to have been involved in defrauding people by promising to invest in the Loni Urban Multi-State Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society.

What is the UP scam case about?

According to an ANI report, the case was filed on January 22nd. The complaint states that more than 500 people in the district were defrauded of Rs 5 crore by promising to double their investments in five years. When people did not receive their money within a year, the agents filed a case against the 22 individuals. Both actors, Talpade and Nath, were brand ambassadors of the society, which is why they became embroiled in this scam.

Babli, a resident of Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, filed the complaint. They reported that a young man from Bijraul village, associated with a self-help group and the Loni Urban Multi-State Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society, came to their village and lured people into investing. This society is registered under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Government of India.
