It's a Friday again and time to figure how box office is feeling right now. Fortunately for this month, a biggie has released to bring smiles on everyone's faces and we are definitely talking about Badrinath Ki Dulhania. It's a sequel to the earlier hit Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and so, there are a lot of expectations from it. With Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, we were pretty sure expectations will be met and it seems it has already started in that direction. Trade Expert, Akshaye Rathi, revealed that film has opened phenomenally well across single screens and multiplexes.
Rathi informs, "It's opened very well all over the country in multiplexes and single screens. Be it metros or small towns. It's a good 60 odd percent in the noon and morning shows. The evening shows are going to be fantastic." When asked how much does he predict the day 1 collection would be, he said, "Bare minimum of Rs 10-11 crore for sure. The extended weekend, that is the Monday which is Holi, it should be somewhere around Rs 45 to 50 crore."
But there is also the case of students giving their board exams now. That's one of the largest target groups of this film. So will that affect Badri's run? Rathi thinks that's possible. "100 percent it will affect Badri. Students in 10th and 12th will be occupied with exams. That's a significant audience for a film like this. But this is a universal film. You can watch it with your family, or girlfriend/boyfriend, with friends, go on a date with it. It's a movie for everybody. It implies that even if the movie will miss out substantially the crowd that's giving the board exams, it will still have a huge crowd to cater too, " Rathi says. So exams won't be much of a bother for BKD.
Explaining the economics of the film and how Badrinath Ki Dulhania is inching towards being a winner just because of that, Akshaye revealed, "The landing cost is Rs 50 odd crores which I think is phenomenal because if you look at it, the music satellite rights of the film are lucrative. I am sure through the sale of these rights and others the film will recover at least Rs. 25 crore. And to recover the rest of the Rs. 25 crore through India and overseas theatricals will be a cakewalk for this film. That will happen over the weekend only between India and overseas."
So it won't be wrong to say that Varun and Alia might just get their third successful film together with Badrinath Ki Dulhania.
