Varun Dhawan faced the first flop of his career with Kalank and definitely, it came as a shocker to him as the expectations were sky-high from this cross border drama. The actor recently celebrated his 32nd birthday but was quite low due to the dismal performance of Kalank. He revealed that to light up his mood on birthday his friends planned a getaway to Thailand, where he also indulged in his favourite boxing style Muay Thai. He released a video of it and also shared a heartfelt message of Kalank not meeting expectations of the public.
He said, “My 32nd birthday... But I am going to tell you how it all went down. I was a little down because my latest release did not go the way I thought it would and it did hit me a little hard, I will be very honest. I didn't know how to react to it. Lot of people told me, 'don't show it'. I don't know how to behave like that. Failures are a part of life." He further added, “My friends though had my back. [They] told me 'pack your bags.' I said, 'What are we going to do?' They said, 'Muay Thai.' So the 1:25 flight on GoAir, we flew and the rest you can watch."
Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan will be next seen in Street Dancer 3D. Directed by Remo D'Souza, the film also stars Shraddha Kapoor, Prabhudheva, Nora Fatehi, Sonam Bajwa, Shakti Mohan, Vartika Jha, Dharmesh Yelande, Punit Pathak and Raghav Juyal in key roles.
