We told you yesterday how Tom Hardy's Venom has done the obvious at the Indian box office. It squashed all the Hindi releases of last Friday by earning much more than them; namely LoveYatri and Andhadhun. However, the collections have already started to slack. After a robust Rs 4.40 crore on the first day, the film has only seen a slight growth in numbers on Day 2. On Saturday, it made Rs 5.28 crore which means the film will keep it really slow at the box office after a good start.
This year has made it pretty evident that you don't want to mess with Hollywood's superhero outings. Black Panther had crushed Aiyaary, The Nun secured more numbers than Paltan and Laila Majnu, Mission Impossible took a lead over Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3. There were other instances too like Daasdev and Avengers Infinity War but then less we talk about that the better. Evidently, Hollywood has managed to defeat Hindi films every time in the last couple months and that may not be a good sign for our films.
We wonder how long the film will stay put at the theatres if numbers don't match the buzz around the film had built.
