Talented actor and singer Mrinal Mukherjee has passed away in Kolkata. He was a very established name in the Bengali entertainment industry. He was known for his roles in Byomkesh O Chiriakhana (2016), Ghar Jamai (2008) and Streer Maryada (2002). He was 74. Mrinal, who also gave playback breathed his last in a private hospital in Kolkata. As per reports, he was suffering from cancer for a long time. Besides, he had jaundice and geriatric issues. It seems he was working despite his health issues. However, his condition went from bad to worse on Monday (May 6) and he passed away. People have taken to social media to condole his demise.
He made his debut with the 1955 film, Dui Bon and featured in many commercially successful films like Golpo Holeo Sotti, Nayika Sangbad, Chuti, Shriman Prithviiraj, among others. Amongst his Hindi films, it is Mausam with Gulzar that is best known to audiences. The film is one of Gulzar's finest works. On TV, he was part of the daily soap, Amloki where he played the role of Nobokumar Guhathakurta. It seems he was also in Barun Sobti's 22 Yards. Stay tuned to BL for more updates!
