Tamil actor Shanmuga Sundaram who was unwell since a few months died today morning. Coming from a family of businessman, his acting talent came to the fore when he replaced a theatre actor in a play. After earning praise for playing Adolf Hitler in a play featuring Kannadasan, he moved onto films. He was noticed by Tamil superstar Gemini Ganesan. He made his debut with Ratha Thilagam in 1963. He has done mythological films like Karnan (1964) and Dasavatharam (1976) as well. The actor was known for saying, Bowlinga and Fieldinga…Shanmuga has worked in TV as well doing shows like Annamalai, Selvi and Arasi.
Since 2010, he was a regular feature in all films of Venkat Prabhu. As per sources, he has having age related issues and his health was deteriorating by the day. He was at his Saligramam residence when this took place. Shanmuga was last seen in Simbu’s Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan. His best role till date for many is in the 1989 film Karagattakaaran. He played the role of a politician who was illiterate about cricket in Venkat Prabhu’s blockbuster Chennai 60028. May his soul rest in peace.
