Sometime back there was talks of how India's star cricketer was not just involved with the NH 10 actress, but had also funded one of her movies. Looks like this was NOT true after all...

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli's split came as a shocker to many. The couples fans were hoping that they set aside their differences and rekindled their romance. Well, this was a couple that had stood strong in some real trying times. Buzz was that Virat wanted marriage, while Anushka was not ready to settle down as yet and instead was looking forward to concentrating on her filmi career. Obviously Virat's break up post on Instagram got everyone talking. Anushka on her part maintained a dignified stance and refused to speak anything about her break up. Of course apart from that one single Insta post Kohli too did not divulge any details of their separation. But buzz around their relationship did not end there.

Sources close to the couple revealed that Kohli wasn't very happy about Anushka taking up Salman Khan's Sultan. Post the news of split made headlines there were also speculations of how Virat had invested in Anushka-Ranbir Kapoor starrer Bombay Velvet directed by Anurag Kashyap. Online reports claimed that Virat had put in Rs 40 crore in this film that tanked. And it seems that when he broached the money topic before his actress girlfriend things went awry. But here' why this news is FAKE!

Firstly Rs 40 crore is a huge sum and if Virat had pumped in that kind of money then wouldn't he want some kind of credit for the same? There was no mention of Virat Kohli anywhere in the movie's credits. And even if Virat did invest the money due to his personal equation wouldn't the buzz be out around the movie? Not to forget that this film was backed by one of the biggest film studios in the industry, Fox Star Studios India.

In order to clarify this news we in fact tried reaching the Phantom team Vikas Bahl, Anurag Kashyap and even Fox Star Studio - India representative, but failed to get a response to our query. We got in touch with trade expert Akshaye Rathi who called this news piece 'HILARIOUS!' Rathi said, "It's a hilarious news. How can one forget that the film was backed by Fox Star Studio. When you have an RBI would you go loan some money from local lenders? When you have the sun shining on you why would turn on the tube light?"

Clearly like Akshaye we too felt that the news just did not make sense. And this was one such case which had glaring loopholes to be ignored. Anushka Sharma's spokespersons stayed mum on the issue. Of course the lesser said was better. With Virat now having come out in the open supporting Anushka against Twitter trolls, we hope he will also give out a statement clearing the air about this Rs 40 crore investment soon...
