After all the disheartening Game of Thrones leak stories we're coming across, thanks to cyber criminals who have hacked HBO, here's a news that has finally made us smile. So far the HBO hackers have been getting the most negative publicity for their asinine stunt. However, their latest revelation has made us respect the makers even more. Turns out, there is no sort of pay disparity between actors and actresses on the show. The principal casts of the show, Kit Harrington (Jon Snow), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Nikolaj Costa-Waldau (Jamie Lannister), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) receive the same amount of paycheck from the makers. That too a whopping $500,000! In fact, even the bonuses and other sorts of added remuneration is in unison. This piece of information was leaked by the hackers, who divulged to Mashable.com. Turns out on Friday, the website received a dump of documents from the hackers, all related to the big HBO hacking they performed. One of those documents contained the climax of season 7's finale episode and also had scripts of the upcoming seasons. Among the same, the site also found papers pertaining to the pay agreement of the stars.
They only found Lena and Kit's contracts where it has been mentioned that neither of the actors will see a raise as opposed to the other actor. All kinds of increment and increase of pay shall be done on an equality basis. Basically, both Kit and Lena would be given raises of the same amount. It also states that no cast member will be paid more. The contract specifies per-episode salary figures, signing bonuses, contract-completion bonuses and bonuses for awards nominations and wins. And guess what, all the figures and numbers are identical. However, the site chose to keep the data private. On the same, Variety revealed that remuneration of the top actors of GoT, Lena, Kit, Emilia and Nikolaj are the same! They all make $500,000 per episode!

The site concluded - No gender pay gap here — at least as far these two Game of Thrones characters are concerned. It's a fairly common practice in successful television ensembles to keep everyone at the same level, though there's no telling who among the other cast is considered "principal." Now that's very impressive! Considering how gender pay disparity on Hollywood front has been a topic of discussion for the longest time, this report of equal payscale is reassuring that the actresses will get their due. Well, let's hope that happens. Anyway, stay tuned to this space for hot scoop and latest updates.
