The actress spearheaded the promotional strategy for Neerja...
As Sonam Kapoor-starrer Neerja hits theaters, the actress is ecstatic with the response coming the film's way with several top filmmakers, actors and even cricketing and political icons praising the film. The film, which showcases the courage shown by Neerja Bhanot, a Pan Am flight attendant who saved the lives of 359 passengers during a hijacking at Karachi airport in 1986, had moved Sonam and so she went all out to promote the film. But she was not just promoting the film, but in fact spearheading the promotions. We have seen actors like Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan spearheading movie campaigns many a times. During P.K., Aamir went to many people's house across the country and asked them about their problems. During Bang Bang, Hrithik came up with the Bang Bang dares.
Similarly, Sonam came up with the #FearVsNeerja campaign, that encouraged people to fight their fears head on. Several biggies from the industry too supported Sonam in this endeavor. Everyone recorded videos documenting their fear and posted them on social media. The Neerja actress even went all out to promote the film and traveled to cities across the country to meet with her fans.
However, this is not the first time she has started a campaign like this. Earlier, Sonam Kapoor set the Dubsmash promotions trend when she encouraged her industry friends and fans to post their Dubsmash videos of the title track of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. She came up with a truly inventive activity that turned the title track of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo into a Dubsmash sensation by getting her friends, family and even her household staff to lip-sync to the song and post the vine on her social media sites.
As a source mentioned, "While earlier it was only actors like Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan who sat on the marketing and publicity campaign, Sonam has spearheaded the Neerja campaign right from the start and even came up with the #FearVsNeerja Instagram activity, that set yet another trend, after her campaign for PRDP. She is one of the few actresses who takes personal interest in the manner the film reaches out to its target audience".
