The renowned lyricist has a special tribute to the paramilitary forces which would be unveiled at an event on February 28
Javed Akhtar has penned a special five minute song called Hum hai desh ke rakshak for the country's largest paramilitary force – Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). This year they would be celebrating their 75th year of existence and patriotic and valor-filled song would be tribute to them. If we recall last year Akhtar wrote a song for another central paramilitary force—Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). This CRPF song has been composed by Raju Singh and its vocals are by Javed Ali. Our khabru informs us that CRPF Director General Dilip Trivedi mooted the idea of creating an anthem for the people in the force and thence officials contacted Akhtar to pen the song.

A little birdie informs us that the song would be unveiled by President Pranab Mukherjee at an event held on February 28. The President would also honour the gallantry award winners of the force which is the mainstay for anti-Naxal operations in the country. Talking to a leading daily a CRPF official said, “While there is already a CRPF song in existence, the need to create a new anthem was felt keeping the new tasks of the force in anti-Maoist operations and additional tasks in internal security domain of the country. The song will be sung at all official events after it is ceremonially released later this month.” Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and other officials of the Home Ministry would also grace the event.

Let us hope this song would also prove to be as great as Lata Mangeshkar’s Ae mere watan ke logon, which was made especially for the Indian army. Keep checking out this space for more updates on the upcoming song.
