Shockingly, there is no end to molestations cases in the Malayalam industry. Only yesterday, a 23 year old actress Sanusha Santosh was molested on the Maveli Express, a train between Mangluru Central and Thiruvananthapuram. But the actress did not take it lying down and got the accused arrested. But what is equally shocking is that nobody came to her rescue.
As per reports on NDTV, here's what exactly happened. Sanusha was sleeping on the upper berth in the train when she felt something on her lips. It turned out to be a man's hand. She twisted his hand and even called out for help but nobody from the lower berth responded. Worse still, nobody even responded to her shouts. Only two people cared to come and help her - script writer Unni and a passenger named Renjith. The incident took place at 1;10am.The actress managed to inform the Train Ticket Examiner about what happened. The Train police of the next station were informed. When they got off at Thiruvananthapuram, the accused was arrested.
In an interview as per reports by Indian Express, the actress has lashed out at people's lack of consideration. "I think people’s protest and outrage begins and ends on Facebook. But when you’re confronted with a real-life situation, nobody cares or reacts.Probably if I had put up a status on Facebook, there would have been many more people showing support, saying “I’m with Sanusha” and changing their display pictures. However, as a woman I want members of the community to stand up for me at times when such incidents happen, not just later on social media. It is really disheartening and I have lost faith in the society.” stated the actress while speaking with NDTV, as per reports on Indian Express.
Before Sanusha's incident made news, Amala Pual, another known actress had filed a complaint against sexual harassment.
