Unpredictable is how I would describe the world of Bollywood. Those who are friends today turn foes tomorrow and then become the best of buddies again (we are especially loving Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan's new found friendship). But today I am talking about the love birds of tinsel town. At some point, certain relationships don't work out and the couple end up parting ways, and honestly wish to never see each other again. But it's quite twisted in Bollywood. Here ex-lovers sometimes have to face each other, after all it's a small world. And more importantly it's about delivering a box office hit right? The things ex-lovers do for love that doesn't even exist! Weird, but it happens.
So today, we want to talk about 5 such ex-couples who reunited for the sake of a film and behaved like thorough professionals:
Ranbir Kapoor- Deepika Padukone
Like who thought that Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone would come together after their infamous breakup. But they surprised us by reuniting for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani which turned out to be a super hit at the box office. And then they romanced in Imtiaz Alia’s Tamasha. See it works.
Ranveer Singh –Anushka Sharma
Their infamous breakup had become the talk of the town and after their split they started giving each other the cold shoulder. But time healed everything and they found love again, but with somebody else! So i guess, they were more than okay to come together for Dil Dhadakne Do. And their chemistry in the film was one of the highlights of the movie. After Band Baaja Baarat and Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, fans were super excited to see them again!
Shahid Kapoor- Kareena Kapoor Khan
Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor’s separation literally broke zillions of hearts. They were one of the most adored couple in tinsel town but sometimes life has different plans for you. Today Bebo is married to Saif Ali Khan and Shahid tied the knot with Mira Rajput. But the couple came together again with Udta Punjab. Their appearance together almost after seven years at the trailer launch of UP grabbed maximum attention. However there will be no scenes of the two in one frame in the film. But the fans just couldn’t stop gushing about them anyway!
Ranbir Kapoor- Katrina Kaif
Well we all were sure that Ranbir and Katrina will never see each other’ face after their breakup and their upcoming film Jagga Jasoos will get shelved. I even had a bet with a friend. But they surprised us and how! ( and lost a bet!) Today the ex flames have even completed the film with all hesitations and embarrassments. And honestly, both need a hit desperately.
Aditya Roy Kapur – Shraddha Kapoor
Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur's first flick Aashiqui 2 was a huge hit at the box office and they became stars overnight. The couple started dating ever since then, however they parted ways after a year or two. But now they are back again with a romantic flick OK Jaanu. We hope they reconcile.
Also we got in touch with trade expert Akshaye Rathi to ask him whether film promotions had any effect on the box office when ex-lovers came together. He said, “ At the box office it's eventually about how entertaining the film is. Ranbir and Deepika who broke up had Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani which was a super hit, But Tamasha didn’t do that well. So overall it all depends on the content. You don’t need any relationship or affair to promote the film. Like classic example is Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, they have nothing to do in reel life, but they are gold mines onscreen”. Bollywoodlifers what’s your thought!
