The tragic demise of Sushant Singh Rajput has once again triggered the question of 'nepotism' in Bollywood. While we are now seeing fans criticising star kids like Alia Bhatt and others on social media, a few years back during an interaction with Filmfare, actress Kareena Kapoor shared her thoughts on nepotism and said that it overrated in Bollywood. “Basically, the industry is a ruthless place. It’s about talent and survival of the fittest. Otherwise, a lot of star kids would’ve been No. 1 stars in our country,” said Bebo.
The Jab We Met actress further added, “So honestly, nepotism is overrated. More than in business, more than in politics, in the industry, it’s your hard work and talent that will take you far. That’s exactly the reason why Kangana Ranaut is considered such a great actress. And she’s not from the industry. If there’s Alia Bhatt, there’s also Kangana. It’s not only about star kids''.
On the work front, Kareena Kapoor will be next seen in Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha. The film also stars Mona Singh in a key role and is inspired by Tom Hanks' blockbuster Forrest Gump, which was based on a 1986 novel by the same name, written by Winston Groom. Tom Hanks played the lead character alongside Robert Wright and Gary Sinise. The movie received several accolades and was the biggest hit of that year. Forrest Gump also swept the Academy Awards that year, bagging Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Visual Effects and Best Film Editing Oscar. Meanwhile, Hanks was applauded for his performance with a Best Actor Oscar award. The movie also performed well at the Golden Globes, People’s Choice Awards and Young Artist Awards. Laal Singh Chaddha is directed by Secret Superstar helmer. So, are you excited for this film? Tweet and let us know @bollywood_life.
