Today along with 1000s of citizens, the members of the Nadigar Sangam joined in the protest against the ban on Jallikattu. Suriya, Ajith Kumar, Rajinikanth, Karthi, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Dhanush were present on the Nadiagr Sangam grounds to observe a day fast in support of the protest. Nasser, the head of the artists' body stated specifically, that the celebs will not comment on their protest as they didn't want the attention shifted from the main protest. The gates were shut to stop the press from entering. But one huge star gave this protest a miss and his absence did not go unnoticed. We are talking about Ilayathalapathy Vijay. So, why did he not show up? According to a source, as a per leading portal, he skipped the protest intentionally as he believed, the Nadigar Sangam fast would steal the limelight from the protest carried out by the local citizens. The attention would be more on the celebs than on the primary cause for this protest. He had earlier in the week posted a video where he expressed his support for Jallikatu. He had in fact even lashed out at PETA, who is responsible for this ban. Also Read: Nadigar Sangam members Ajith, Suriya, Karthi,Trisha want no media coverage of their Pro-Jallikattu protest
Actors across Industries expressed their support for the sport. Mahesh Babu took to Twitter to voice his support - Jallikattu is the spirit of Tamil Nadu – bold and fearless. Proud to see such a statement of unity among Tamilians for something that they truly believe in.” He went on to say he admires the “way the students of Tamil Nadu have been standing up for the cause, relentlessly fighting for their roots and culture.” Even Powerstar Pawan Kalyan voiced his support for this Bull taming sport. Rana Daggubati, Samantha Ruth Prabhu are among others who lent their support. Theatres have also remained shut until 6pm in the evening to lend support to this large cause.
