The Mardaani stars opens up about his fascination with playing the grey characters...
Gorgeous, handsome and a go-getter, Tahir Raj Bhasin represents the cool, young face of Indian cinema. Tahir’s Walt in Mardaani represented the uber chic, chillingly sexy, pure-evil face of a villain in Bollywood. He redefined the bad boy image for us. Gone are the days where we imagine our villains to be middle-aged, pot bellied, oily men with handle bar moustaches and blood-shot eyes. This is because of the actors like Tahir.
After his character in the Rani Mukerji starrer was well received by the film fraternity as well masses (women, especially!), he chose John Abraham – Sonakshi Sinha starrer Force 2 to return back to the big screen. There is no prize for guessing that the Mardaani star will be playing a villain in this outing too. He, while talking to a leading entertainment daily, said that he is not at all worried about being type cast. He, on the other hand, would like to explore the level of depth and character in dark roles.
He said, “Internationally, and in Bollywood, films are being written for grey characters. My character has layers and depth. It’s not like the ’70s and ’80s anymore, when it was only black or white”. He wants to do roles which will challenge him as an actor. Tahir stresses on doing some qualitative work rather than merely copying others.
Speaking about being a part of Force 2 he said, “It feels incredible. It’s a franchise (the film is the second instalment of the 2001 film, Force), so it comes with an audience base. I really like the aesthetic [sense] of Abhinay Deo, who is the director of the film. It’s a young team, and it’s going to be well-packaged, given the people backing it. So, I’m very excited about working on it.”
We wish all the best to this young, refreshing, fire brand of an actor and we’re sure he will continue to win our hearts. As, he's the guy we love to hate!
