The dishy actor’s recent feat came very close to the world record in the 100m race. But shouldn't he match the Flying Sikh's records set at the Asian Games!
Filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar and his director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s hard work and meticulousness in recreating India’s fastest runner Milkha Singh for the big screen is paying off slowly and steadily. If you look at the film stills of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag you will believe, even if it’s just for a few seconds, that Farhan is the real Milkha Singh. Everything from the long hair to the beard to the body structure is almost identical to ‘The Flying Sikh’'s. Farhan, who is known for his uber-cool persona, has impressively metamorphosed into the small town Sikh runner.
We have the results of the Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara actor’s efforts to literally match steps with India’s fastest runner. Farhan managed to finish the 100-metre run in 11.9 seconds flat! Given that the world record holder Usain Bolt sprinted the same distance in 9.58 seconds, the B-towner’s feat is laudable. But the man Farhan is impersonating for the big screen set higher records. Milkha Singh clocked 200m and 400m in 21.6 seconds and 47 seconds respectively, at the 1958 Asian Games. Looking at Farhan’s execution so far, we don’t doubt his ability to match the Flying Sikh’s time.
