Now that the clash has been averted, would it benefit The Jungle Book? Read on...
Shah Rukh Khan's Fan just released the first song of the film yesterday, Fan Anthem, and it has already created a fervour among fans! You can't really expect anything less from the Baadshah of Bollywood. And guess what, a lot has happened since the Fan Anthem released! So a few hours post Fan Anthem released, Priyanka Chopra and Dwayne Johnson sent out a video on Instagram confirming that she is very much set to make her Hollywood debut with Baywatch! That's not all, today morning, Deepika Padukone shared another picture of herself from the sets of xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. But suddenly the Twitter started trending with #HappyBdayAjay so it seemed as though Ajay Devgn stole SRK's thunder (P.s. its not Ajay's birthday now!). And finally, this BIG news that Fan won't clash with The Jungle Book stole the limelight yet again!
This says one thing, everybody likes to gatecrash Shah Rukh's happy day with their news! But coming back to the Fan vs The Jungle Book, that still has our attention because it is a f**king big news. If you remember, Fan and The Jungle Book was to clash on 15th April but Disney decided to prepone the release and the film will be releasing in India before US! This is one of the few times that a Hollywood film releases in India before US but if you take a closer look, it seems as though a little competition has been averted. In fact, this might even become a win situation for The Jungle Book for the following reasons:
- The clash has been averted and therefore the fans will be able to go for both the films.
- Word of mouth about the film depending upon how well it has been made will result in good PR.
- The Jungle Book is a classic and as a lot of crowd has grown up to listening to this story, it carries a lot of nostalgic value that will propel the fans to watch the film ASAP.
- Chances of SRK's sensational 'intolerance remark' might create hassles for the film resulting in many opting for The Jungle Book.
However, Shah Rukh Khan's Fan too holds a big stake in this game with the trump card being, it's the story of fan of a superstar, both of them being played by SRK. Having the King of Bollywood in the lead role and this being the story of Shah Rukh Khan himself, the film has a lot of anticipation around it thanks to the amount of fervour and surprises in store for us is a lot.
Trade Analyst and Exhibitor Akshaye Rathi has stated that while Fan has Shah Rukh Khan who is India's biggest star, The Jungle Book holds a lot of nostalgic value as we've grown up reading Rudyard Kipling's this classic. Therefore both the films will do well irrespective of the pre-poning as both the films have different USPs (Unique selling proposition).
