Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt's on-screen chemistry is something to look out for. The duo sets the silver screen on fire with their oh-so-comfortable camaraderie. Their pairing is often compared to that of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, who have done several films together. This comparison is bound to arise as SRK-Kajol's jodi was a hit during the 90s and Varun-Alia's jodi is everyone's current favourite. Interestingly, just like Shah and Kajol, #Varia has worked together in a lot of films including their upcoming one, Kalank. The duo started their filmy career with Student of the Year and have been going strong ever since.
Recently, during a media interaction, when Varun was asked about this comparison, he had said, "It's a huge comparison. They (Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol) have done seven incredible films together. Their jodi is iconic. I would not consider this comparison as I have also grown up watching them together."
However, the actor added that Alia and he are one of the most successful pairs of Bollywood. And that is the reason why they are still getting a lot of offers. Later, when the Judwaa 2 actor was asked whether Alia and he will replace SRK-Kajol in the next five years, he said, "No it won't happen ever. That pair is so special that we are still talking about it today. You need to work very hard to reach that level."
He further added, "We easily draw comparisons nowadays. We compare Virat Kohli with Sachin Tendulkar, then Sachin Tendulkar with Sunil Gavaskar, so this thing will happen continuously. Comparison between elder and younger brother. So, I take all the comparisons superficially and always work hard, so that one-day the audience will say that the pair of Varun and Alia entertained us the most."
Varun makes a valid point here and we agree to it. For the ones who do not know, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Ajay Devgn and Rani Mukerji were initially a part of Kalank. But after Yash Johar's demise, the film was put on hold.
Years later, KJo is now bankrolling Kalank which features Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. Directed by Abhishek Varman, the film releases on April 17.
