Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap, Anupam Kher and Ritesh Batra invited to join the Oscar Academy

Among the new invitees, there are 21 Oscar winners like Lady Gaga, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Jimmy Chin among others.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences invited over 842 artists and professional from 59 countries as new members to join the prestigious organisation on Monday. The list included Indian celebrities like Zoya Akhtar (Director), Anurag Kashyap (Short Film and Feature Animation), Ritesh Batra (Writer) and Anupam Kher (Actor). The Academy has also invited Sherry Bharda, who has done the visual effects for Hichki and Sui Dhaaga: Made in India and Srinivas Mohan, who has worked on projects like 2.0 and Baahubali: The Beginning.

Among the new invitees, there are 21 Oscar winners like Lady Gaga, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Jimmy Chin among others. The Academy has also included 82 Oscar nominees, which includes Jonathan Chinn, Talal Derki and Josh Fox among others.

In the past, Indian celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Aditya Chopra, Priyanka Chopra, Tabu and Anil Kapoor have been invited to be a part of the Academy.
