The minister made this sexist statement against a rival MNS candidate
Senior Nationalist Congress Party leader RR Patil on Saturday stoked a controversy while addressing a rally ahead of Assembly Elections in Maharashtra.
At the rally here, the controversial leader and former Maharashtra home minister said that if Maharashtra Navnirman Sena's Sudhakar Khade, who was arrested on rape charges in 2007, wanted to be a MLA, then he could have committed the crime after the elections.
"Khade's supporters came to me and lend me their support. I asked them why were they doing so? They said their candidate was in the prison in a rape case."
"If he (Sudhakar Khade) wanted to become a MLA, he should have committed rape after the election", he said.
