Kim Soo-hyun's fans have issued a strict warning to a medical device brand that recently filed a court-ordered asset seizure against the popular Korean star, condemning the company's actions as unethical.
Kim Soo-hyun's fan union, representing both Korean and global supporters, issued an official statement on June 11, condemning Company A’s decision to request a provisional seizure of the actor's property.
The statement reads, “We confirmed that in the process of filing the seizure, Kim Soo-hyun’s personal information was exposed to the public.” The fan group further added, “This is a clear case of secondary harm against a victim of false allegations, as well as a serious invasion of privacy.”
The controversy rose after the Seoul Eastern District Court granted a 3 billion won provisional seizure request, which allows for the seizure of one of Kim Soo Hyun’s luxurious apartments at Galleria Foret in Seoul’s Seongdong District.
Fans have expressed their anger against the legal action and called it opportunistic and unjustified. “It is extremely unreasonable and irrational for a brand that once benefited financially from Kim Soo-hyun’s image to file for asset seizure against him, especially when he is the innocent party.”
Fans have also questioned the brand’s priorities. They said that if contract violation or reputational damage is at issue, responsibility should be directed at those who spread the false claims that disrupted the actor’s career. It is ethically indefensible for a company to target the victim with legal action.
The fan union has also demanded that the brand issue a clear explanation and handle the matter responsibly. They claimed that as consumers who became aware of the brand through Kim Soo Hyun, they hope this situation does not escalate into a boycott of all your products.
The brand had previously hired Kim Soo Hyun as the face of the brand, but later filed for asset seizure after failing to receive damages from the terminated contract. O June 12, Kim Soo Hyun’s legal representative confirmed the court-approved provisional seizure.
