Filmmaker and actor Anurag Kashyap is currently in news because of his recent controversial remarks. Amid the controversy around the film Phule, Anurag Kashyap made remarks on Brahmin community that did not go down well with many. He faced the wrath of social media that eventually led him to apologise.
Anurag Kashyap then took to his social media account to write, 'I forgot my limits while replying to someone in anger. And I spoke badly about the entire Brahmin community. That community, whose many people have been in my life, are still there and contributes a lot. Today, all of them are hurt by me. My family is hurt by me. Many intellectuals, whom I respect, are hurt by my anger and my way of speaking.'
Earlier, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actress Munmun Dutta too faced social media backlash for her alleged casteist remark. Back in 2021, Munmun Dutta had allegedly used a castiest slur in a video that called for massive outrage. So much so that a case was also filed against her.
She later took to social media to extend an apology. She wrote in a social media post, 'Because of my language barrier, I was genuinely misinformed about the meaning of the word. Once I was made aware of its meaning I immediately took the part down. I have utmost respect for every single person from every caste, creed or gender and acknowledge their immense contribution to our Society or nation.'
In the year 2020, comedian Kapil Sharma had to apologise to Kayastha community for an alleged joke that had a reference of Shri Chitragupta. He had shared that his intention wasn't to hurt any sentiments.
Randeep Hooda too once came under the scanner when a video of him cracking joke on politician Mayawati went viral in 2021. His comments were considered as 'casteist' and 'sexiest' by netizens.
Actress Yuvika Chaudhary too once received major backlash on social media for using the word 'bhangi' in her Vlog. #ArrestYuvikaChaudhary then trended on social media. However, the actress did apologise later with a post.
Back in 2018, Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty had reportedly called for a controversy as they used the word 'bhangi'. They were then asked to apologise to Valmiki community, said a report in Hindustan Times.
