During a recent appearance on Mid-Day's show ‘Sit With Hitlist’, Huma Qureshi revealed that she has been a huge fan of Madhuri Dixit since childhood. She said that Madhuri's dancing had inspired her since childhood.
Huma recalled, “For me, my inspiration was Madhuri Dixit since childhood. Just the way she danced. Every girl has lifted their shirt and tied it into a knot and done Ek Do Teen steps. And then in Dedh Ishqiya, I played her lover. Dreams do come true; all I am saying is be careful what you wish for. I definitely wanted to breathe the same air as hers and understand her enigma.”
Huma said that playing Madhuri Dixit's girlfriend in the film was a very special and memorable experience for her. She said, “as gorgeous as it comes, inside and out.” Regarding working with Madhuri, Huma said, I completely relished and enjoyed the experience. Madhuri is as gorgeous as it comes, inside and out. She also revealed that the film's story was inspired by Ismat Chughtai's Lihaaf.
Huma explained that she auditioned for the role because she spoke Urdu, and she fit the bill perfectly. She was delighted to have the opportunity to be a part of the film. Interestingly, Huma revealed that the film's initial script included a kissing scene between her and Madhuri Dixit,
Madhuri and Huma had a kissing scene in the film but it was later removed because the team felt it would be too much. She highly praised Madhuri Dixit's professionalism and said that she always remained calm on set.
Recalling an incident, Huma said that while all the actors were excited, Madhuri sat quietly and learned about her part from the director. This made Huma understand how disciplined senior actors can be. Finally, Huma said that Madhuri is a very simple and down-to-earth person. She talks about her children and family in a simple way, and this is what makes her so endearing and special.
Dedh Ishqiya is a comedy thriller that wa released in 2014. The film featured Madhuri Dixit, Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi, Human Qureshi and others. The story revolves around Khalujan and Babban who seek refuge at Majidabad palace.
