In January, Saif Ali Khan was stabbed at their residence in Bandra, Mumbai. A 2.5-inch piece of the blade was surgically removed from his spine. Now, after so many months, Kareena Kapoor Khan has finally opened up about this horrifying incident. She spoke to Barkha Dutt on Mojo Story. She said that such incidents happen rarely in Mumbai but are quite common in the US. However, she still hasn't fully come to terms with it.
The actress shared that she was extremely anxious for a few months after the incident and it took her time to be normal. She shared, “It's there in your heart. It is like death. When you lose someone, you never really get over it. That's what I have always perceived – that you never really get over that. I don't want to live in that fear for my children because that's also wrong to put that stress onto them.”
She further called it a tough journey, navigating the fear and anxiety. She also had to look after her kids who have seen the incident happening. She had to go through a lot emotionally to come to terms with what had happened.
The actress also thanked God for keeping everyone safe during that time. Further, Kareena Kapoor spoke about her son, Jeh reacted. She said he feels Saif is a batman or Iron man. She hopes that her sons grow up with a unique kind of resilience after witnessing the incident themselves.
She added, “They have seen blood and everything, but that trauma I somehow feel will make Taimur and Jeh a lot more of a different kind of man. They have also been so sheltered, and then, they have suddenly seen this.” She believes that the incident has brought them out of that shelter and now they can actually believe that something like this can happen.
Kareena then spoke about how she is dealing with the trauma. She said that she’s trying not to pass on her stress and anxiety to her sons but she is shaken to the core by this incident.
She also shared that Saif constantly reminds her that they cannot live with fear all the time. But, she has been affected by whatever happened.
An intruder entered the actor's home with the alleged intent of theft. He is identified as Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad.
