After a successful weekend, the third Monday experienced a 77.66 decline in revenues for the mythological animated film directed by Ashwin Kumar. The Sandalwood film, which portrayed the stirring stories of Lord Vishnu's third and fourth incarnations, became the highest-grossing Indian animated film, but it now appears to be fading in the face of fresh releases.
On August 12, Mahavatar Narsimha earned Rs 5.25 crore net in India, according to film industry tracker Sacnilk. During its 18-day run in theatres, the animated film, which was produced under the Kleem Productions label, brought in a total of Rs 174.9 crore at the domestic box office.
It made Rs 1.75 crore net on its opening day in India, the lowest amount ever for a single day. Notably, it made Rs 44 crore net during the third week, which was the best weekend collection.
The Kannada film, which was released on July 25, made Rs 11 crore from the foreign market and made Rs 213 crore globally in just 17 days.
Its presenter Homable Films in a post on X stated, “210 CRORES+ worldwide gross & counting…#MahavatarNarsimha continues the glorious run, shattering records and winning the love of millions worldwide.”
Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel called the animated epic saga a ‘blockbuster’ and in a post on X stated, “#MahavatarNarsimha (Hindi) delivers a MIND BOGGLING ₹ 39 Cr nett in its third weekend, showing massive jump on Saturday over Friday, followed by another strong rise on Sunday.”
