There is one actress who shared screen with Dharmendra, Rajesh Khanna and Sanjeev Kumar. She made a name in the industry and was even called Rajesh Khanna’s right hand.
The actress we are talking about is Mumtaz, born on 31 July 1947. She was regarded as one of the finest actresses of Hindi cinema. The actress made her acting debut at age 11 with Lajwanti (1958), Sone Ki Chidiya (1958), and did smaller roles in films like Stree (1961) and Sehra (1963).
Mumtaz has featured in more than 150 films, and her film with Dharmendra was considered a hit. With her talent and charisma, she soon became one of the highest-paid actresses during her prime and even rejected the marriage proposal of a darling of the Kapoor family.
At the start of her career, she faced a lot of rejections and got only small roles in multiple films. Before making her mark, Mumtaz was a part of B-grade films.
In an interview with Vicky Lalwani, Mumtaz revealed about Shammi Kapoor and said, “Shammi Kapoor was very handsome. There is nothing to hide in this; I also liked him, but there was a difference of 17 to 18 years in our age. In those days, Raj Kapoor was very strict. He said that the daughter-in-law of his family cannot be an actress.” Due to this condition, she rejected Shammi Kapoor’s marriage proposal, and after this, the duo was seen together.
However, Shammi Kapoor was in love with her and almost proposed marriage, but Mumtaz was not ready to leave her film career and decided to focus on her career.
Mumtaz married businessman Mayur Madhvani in 1974. The couple have two beautiful daughters together, Natasha and Tanya. People still talk about her films.
