While we saw the likes of RRR and KGF 2 make hay at the box office, there were more than a fair share of South movies, including big-ticket ones, that arrived with much hullaballoo, but sank without a trace in theatres. Yes, several big South movies, or at least ones with a reasonable budget, and starring big names, like Radhe Shyam, Acharya, Beast and more have tanked miserably at the box office in 2022. Ravi Teja starrer Khiladi was sold or ₹25 crore, but collected only ₹21 crore gross at the box office, with a distributor share of just ₹12 crore gross.
Prabhas starrer Radhe Shyam was sold for ₹210 crore, but collected only ₹150 crore gross at the box office, with a distributor share of just ₹84 crore gross.
Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan starrer Acharya was sold for ₹140 crore, but collected only ₹76 crore gross at the box office, with a distributor share of just ₹46 crore gross.
Thalapathy Vijay starrer Beast was sold for ₹150 crore, but collected only ₹162 crore gross at the box office, with a distributor share of just ₹95 crore gross.
