In the Bollywood industry, the Kapoor family is a prominent name with a legacy spanning several generations. The name has been rooted since the beginning of Hindi cinema.
However, there is one rule in the Kapoor family that no girl from the family would work in the film industry. But the rule was broken by Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.
There is one sister of Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, and Shashi Kapoor, who did not step into film due to this rule and stays away from the limelight. Many don’t know about her, and the three brothers even called her an adopted sister.
Urmila Sial Kapoor is the only sister of Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, and Shashi Kapoor. She was born in 1935 in Calcutta. For her education, Urmila graduated from Lady Irwin Girls' College, Delhi. At the same time, Urmila was married to Charanjit Sial, who died in the year 1993.
Urmila said, “Just because I am dark, my brothers have always teased me by saying I was not actually their sister but adopted by my parents since there was no female sibling in the family. My father and mother, however, thought otherwise. They said I was the best of the Kapoor flock.”
The three brothers, Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor, used to tease her a lot and mocked her for her dusky skin colour and even used to call her an adopted sister. However, she is not the real daughter; her father adopted her.
Urmila had a son named Jatin Sial and three daughters, Anuradha, Preeti and Namita. Her son Jatin Sial is an actor and made his acting debut with the 1994 DD National’s show Tahqiqat. After this, he never turned back.
Urmila got married at a young age. She met Charanjit through Raj Kapoor’s wife. Her husband, Charanjit, died after his wife’s 60th birthday, and Urmila Sial Kapoor died on July 25, 2001.
