Bollywood stars lead luxurious lives. However, they are often mired in controversies. Here's a story of an actress who ruled the screens back in 70s and 80s. Even in the 90s, she did some of the most iconic roles. But it was her personal life that always kept her in the news.
The actress in discussion today is iconic Rakhee. Many remember the 'Mere Karan Arjun Ayenge' dialogue even now. It was Rakhee who made it memorable. She started her acting career with a Bengali film Badhu Bharan in 1967. She then moved to Bollywood and did films like Lal Patthar, 27 Down, Trishul, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar and many more.
Rakhee even won two national awards. She won for movies - Shubho Mahurat and 27 Down. In 2003, she was also honoured with a Padma Shri.
While she remained in news for her movies, her personal life also drew a lot of attention. Rakhee married twice. Reportedly, she was first married to Bengali journalist/film director Ajay Biswas in 1963 when she was just a teenager. However, the marriage ended in two years. She then married lyricist Gulzar.
Despite working with top artists like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and others - she drew maximum attention for her marriage with Gulzar.
They married in the year 1973 but separated in a year. They reportedly separated when their daughter was just one-year-old. Rakhee and Gulzar never got divorced though. She also quit films. After 2003, she appeared only in a few films.
Now, as per reports, Rakhee has left Mumbai and is living a quaint life at her farmhouse in Panvel. As per a report in The Quint, Rakhee has many animals at her farmhouse including 9 dogs, 32 cows, birds and snakes.
Talking about her new life, Rakhee Gulzar was once quoted as saying, 'Now I don't need money, I do my work myself and am living a happy life with animals.'
