In an interview with Haute Fly, the actress revealed how her dance teacher intervened in her life when she was just 8 and how her first boyfriend helped her escape the traumatic darkness.
Anjali further revealed that the dance teacher tried to make her a part of his family. He portrayed himself as her father right after Anjali’s dad passed away. When questioned about his doings, Anjali said that he tried to take advantage of her when she was a kid with limited understanding.
Talking about the same, she said, “I didn’t know what to do. I was eight years old, right after my dad passed away. He said to me, ‘I’m your father,’ and I believed him because I didn’t know any better. Then he started very slowly — he gave me a kiss on the lips and said, ‘This is what fathers do.'”
Revealing the tragic incident, Anjali said that her dance teacher wouldn’t let her keep her hair open and made her wear his old T-shirts so that she wouldn’t look attractive to others.
Anjali further revealed that when her sister got married, her father’s best friend’s son came. He had a massive crush on Anjali, and they started talking; the conversation gave Anjali the feeling that this was something normal.
However, her happy moments didn’t last long; her dance teacher caught her texting and started a strict check on her. “He would keep an eye on my itemised billing – he knew what I was texting. He caught me talking to this guy. He would wait outside my school to pick me up, and everyone would think, ‘Why is he always there?’ But no one even tried to see why.”
Anjali revealed that the traumatic experience lasted six years, from age 8 to 14. Anjali further thanked her first boyfriend for helping her escape the worst nightmare of her life.
