Today, Simone Singh, the actress who won hearts as Heena in the popular TV serial Sea Hawks, is turning 51. Many also remember her as Rukhsar, Kajol’s charming friend in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
On this day, let’s take a look back at the inspiring story of one of the most graceful actresses of Indian television.
Jamshedpur is the birthplace of Simone, and she was born on July 10, 1977. After completing her early schooling there, she went on to get a bachelor’s degree in arts.
When she finished her studies, she was hired by a TV network in Delhi for a short time. It is worth mentioning that her foray into showbiz was a fluke.
She was in Mumbai visiting a friend when she stumbled upon a serial audition. She would not miss her chance to participate and thus left her portfolio. Then, a few days later, a production house got in touch offering her a part in an English show called A Mouthful of Sky.
That was the start of her journey as an actress. Not long after that, she gained fame through her strong acting in Swabhimaan and the hit TV soap Heena, which made her a star in every home. Later, she took on the role of Piya in Kashish (2005), which proved her versatility as an actress once more.
Simone has done approximately 21 Bollywood films during her career. Rukhsar in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and a cameo as Abhishek Bachchan’s college friend in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna are among her most praised roles. With her charm and elegance that seem effortless, Simone Singh is still one of the most graceful and talented actresses who have managed to connect television and cinema quite easily.
