Indian K-pop community is stepping up in a big way on social media to tackle fake news and misinformation. Meanwhile, Sriya Lenka, India's first K-pop star, has shown her support for the Indian Armed Forces amid growing tensions with Pakistan.
On April 22, 2025, India and the world were shaken with the horrifying terrorist attack in Pahalgam that took away 26 innocent lives. After this, in response, India launched Operation Sindoor and targeted terrorist camps within Pakistan and in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.
India targeted nine terrorist camps, killing terrorists and destroying the buildings that trained terrorists. Indians from around the world came in support of India’s successful operation, including politicians, celebrities, businessmen, and others. Citizens flooded social media with messages of support for Indian forces.
One such personality among the supporters is Sriya Lenka, who is India’s first K-pop star. Sriya shares a post on her social media account, strongly supporting the Indian Armed Forces amid the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan.
Sriya is a 23-year-old singer and dancer from Odisha. She is a part of the South Korean girl group Blackswan. Sriya’s recent Instagram story applauds the bravery and courage of Indian soldiers who are risking their lives for the country. Her post reads, “Proud of our Protecters, Jai Hind.”
Blackswan is the first multicultural non-Korean K-pop girl group that gained massive popularity across the world with their debut album, That Karma, released in 2023. Blackswan features girls with different cultural roots and brings a unique cultural blend for its listeners.
In the group, Sriya has a unique importance in the blending of Indian classical dance and contemporary styles, which has helped her earn a standout identity in the industry of Korean pop culture.
Apart from Sriya’s post in support of the Indian Armed Forces, Korean pop fans and other supporters have also shown backing for the Indian Forces through supportive, encouraging, and appreciative comments on social media.
