Suvreen Chawla, an actress known for her powerful performances and feisty temperament, recently discussed the dark side of the glamour business. She described many incidents of harassment, some of which occurred after marriage.
Surveen discussed the horrible things she encountered in the entertainment industry, including how a director attempted to kiss her during a professional meeting at his office on Veera Desai Road in Mumbai.
In a conversation with The Male Feminist, Chawla said, “I must have experienced the casting couch multiple times.” She continued, “I will tell you a tale about Mumbai’s Veera Desai Road only. After the meeting at his office cabin, he came to see me off at the gate, and this was after I got married. And the strange thing was that we talked about this in the meeting also.”
“He asked me how it was going and what my husband did, and it was just us speaking inside his cabin because he had a big office. So, when I came to the door to say bye, he leaned towards me trying to kiss, and I had to push him back. I was startled and asked him what he was doing, and I just walked off.” Suvreen recalled.
Surprisingly, this was not it. Chawla also discussed another terrible occurrence involving her in the South cinema business. She revealed, “There was a director who couldn’t speak Hindi or English, so he used a friend as an interpreter. Through this friend, he basically told me that I had to sleep with him during the shoot.”
In a recent interview, the Hate Story 2 actress described being unjustly assessed during auditions, particularly for her physique. She described how body shaming causes women to feel uneasy and doubt their value.
While speaking to RJ Siddharth Kannan, Suvreen had said, “Women in the industry are often judged unfairly and made to feel low about themselves because of how they look.”
Suvreen is still making a name for herself in the entertainment sector in spite of these embarrassing incidents. The actress most recently appeared with Pankaj Tripathi in Criminal Justice Season 4.
