You see, back when they were shooting for Dulal Guha’s Chand Aur Suraj, Dharmendra and Tanuja used to be drinking buddies. He had even introduced her to his wife, Prakash. During that time, Sunny Deol was merely five, and Dharmendra’s daughter Lali was six months old.
Tanuja revealed that one day, Dharmendra tried to flirt with her. As an instinctive reaction, she slapped him. She said, “Besharam! I know your wife, and you have the audacity to flirt with me.”
Dharmendra felt very embarrassed by the incident. He apologized to her and asked her to tie a rakhi on his hand. He said, “Tanu, meri Maa, sorry bolta hoon! Please make me your brother’.” Hesitant at first, Tanuja eventually tied a black thread on his hand, and the rest of their friendship is followed by history.
