The actress is Poonam Dhillon. She is best known for 1979 film Noorie. But her debut film was Trishul that starred Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini and others.
It was only after she was crowned as Miss Young India 1978 that she got noticed by Yash Chopra who offered her Trishul. Over the years, Poonam Dhillon appeared in many top films like Yeh Vada Raha, Naam, Kasam, Batwara, Laila and many more.
But did you know that she wanted to leave acting after her first film? In one of the interviews with Lehren, Poonam Dhillon stated that she simply wanted to try acting and get back to her studies after her first film. And she even did so. However, a few months into her studies, she received a call from Yash Chopra offering her another film. As per reports, she actually aspired to become a doctor.
Poonam Dhillon worked with biggest A-listers of her time. Once she even jokingly shared that she wanted to marry Sunil Dutt. He played the role of her father in Laila. Recalling a funny incident, she shared, I jokingly told him that if you were young, I would want to marry you’.
In 1988, Poonam Dhillon tied the knot with producer Ashok Thakeria. They had two kids and Poonam Dhillon then dedicated her time to raising the little ones. However, after a few years, Poonam Dhillon and Ashok Thakeria parted ways.
While she did many hit films, Poonam Dhillon also remained popular in TV industry. She appeared in TV shows like Ekk Nayi Pehchaan, Andaz and more.
Poonam Dhillon was also a contestant on Bigg Boss 3. She turned out to be the second runner-up of the show.
