Following this, Major Mohit Sharma's parents approached the court, but after scrutiny, the Censor Board approved the film.
According to several online discussions and reports, the film's story is believed to be inspired by Operation Lyari, a major gang war that took place in the Lyari area of Karachi, Pakistan. Lyari was once a hub of drug trafficking and crime, where gangs have been gaining control since the 1960s.
Akshaye Khanna's character in the film is said to be inspired by the notorious gangster Rehman Dacoit, also known as the Robin Hood of Lyari. Rehman engaged in a long, bloody feud with his rival Arshad Pappu, in which many innocent people were killed. Rehman was ultimately killed in a police encounter in 2009.
Sanjay Dutt will be seen playing the role of Pakistan's renowned encounter specialist, Chaudhry Aslam Khan, who formed the Lyari Task Force and eliminated several major criminals. Due to his tough approach, he became a target of terrorists and was assassinated in 2014.
Arjun Rampal is playing a character inspired by terrorist Ilyas Kashmiri, who was considered a senior commander of Al-Qaeda and was accused of involvement in numerous terrorist attacks and assassinations. He was killed in a US drone strike in 2011.
R. Madhavan plays Ajay Sanyal in the film, a character said to be inspired by India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Doval played a key role in several major terrorist operations, including missions like the Kandahar hijacking and Operation Bluestar.
Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and child actor Sara Arjun. The film is releasing in theaters on December 5th, and its story is believed to be inspired by true events from intelligence battles and the underworld, both domestically and internationally.
