The spiritual leader stated that these messages were received in three separate spiritual encounters, in which Yu expressed his views on the atrocities he suffered, his views on humanity and compassion, and his appeal to people to awaken for justice.
The photographs attached to his post were swiftly removed by Weibo's (China's equivalent of Twitter) automated censorship system, but users noted that the name Wang Xiaohong- China's Minister of Public Security- began appearing in the comments before they were also erased.
Lin warned followers from his backup account on October 26, saying, “If I go silent for a long time, or suddenly post something against my will — that’s not me. It means I’ve been controlled.” He continued: “If something really happens to me, this account won’t post again. I will never compromise, and I will never speak words against my conscience. No one can help me — you can only wait patiently for me to come back.”
On October 28, two days later, Lin's primary account was muted and his backup account was suspended. Since Beijing was his last known location, many people on the internet assumed he had been arrested once more. Vision Times was informed by an individual with knowledge of the matter that Lin Beichuan's claim had reached high levels of the Party.
According to the YouTuber, after a person's death, their soul lingers around the same place for one to three days, then goes to a spirit realm, where they can clearly see the memories and experiences of their life. He said that Yu's spirit is trying to awaken humanity through their struggle and sacrifice. Many viewers expressed their feelings on the video. One user wrote, “I also felt as if Yu Menglong chose to awaken people to truth and justice through his suffering.” Another commented, “He was a son of light who chose the difficult mission of fighting evil. May his soul rest in peace in heaven.”
Yu's death was quickly ruled a sad incident caused by a night of heavy drinking, but the strange circumstances have sparked a surge of activists, industry peers, and netizens demanding responsibility and a full inquiry.
